Benefits of Membership

  • TAW is a community of actors, writers and directors.
  • Every Monday evening, TAW holds its Workshop. This is the heart of TAW. Actors present scenes, songs or monologues. The membership watches, listens and gives helpful critique. It’s a great opportunity for actors to work on audition scenes, or to stretch their muscles and play.  Actors have the opportunity to work with TAW’s directors and writers to develop new plays. TAW’s members help each other grow.
  • Actors have the opportunity to perform for the public in TAW’s Playwright’s Festival, Classic Night Readings, Spring Musical and Alternate Nights. Shows developed at TAW are often performed in other venues in Fairfield County and beyond.
  • Writers bring scenes from a work-in-progress and see it read onstage by our talented actors on Monday nights. The theatre is available for writers to present alternate evening presentations of an entire work before an invited audience of TAW members, family and friends.
  • Writers have the opportunity to have their work staged in TAW’s annual Playwright’s Festival. Shows developed at TAW have been performed in theatres and playwright festivals across the country.
  • The TAW’s theatre is available to members for rehearsal throughout the year. It can also be reserved for public performance. Actors, writers, directors and other theatre professionals have the opportunity to work together to create the magic of theatre.
  • TAW offers Master Classes in Acting, Singing, Writing, Voice Production, taught by our exceptionally talented members at a nominal charge, and sometimes free of charge. TAW’s “workshops within the Workshop” have often resulted in shows that were performed in other venues.
  • TAW’s large library of scripts and theatre-related material is available to all members.
