30 years old!  The Theatre Artists Workshop (TAW) celebrates an amazing anniversary with a special weekend of performances and recollections. For 30 years, TAW – a collection of over 125 professional actors, writers and directors – has been meeting once a week to showcase new scripts and audition pieces, and several times a year share their talents with audiences through their acclaimed their Annual Playwright’s Festival, Holiday Show, Spring Fundraisers, and Classic Night Reading Series. TAW is the only theatrical organization of its kind in the region.

These extraordinary performances will showcase the talented members of TAW as they share with the audience scenes, songs, and stories that relate to the history of the many celebrated members of the company for the past three decades. A veritable who’s-who of some of the biggest names in Broadway, Hollywood, and television have graced the stage at both its Westport and Norwalk locations since the company was founded Valentine’s Day 1983.  Such luminaries as Keir Dullea (co-founder of TAW with his late wife, Susie Fuller), Theodore Bikel, Lee Richardson, Ring Lardner, Jr., Morton DaCosta, Sandy Dennis, Burry Fredrik, Phoebe Brand, Shirley Knight, Anne Baxter, Brett Somers, Haila Stoddard, Jim Noble, Christopher Durang, Jerome Kilty, Sidney Michaels, and more have honed their acting and writing skills, created original scripts, and shared their talents with each other and the audience down through the years.

The 30th anniversary show will feature performances and music from the works of Ring Lardner, Jr., (Mash, Woman of the Year), Sidney Michaels (The Royal Family, Dylan), and Jerome Kilty (Dear Liar).  Tributes to esteemed director/producer Morton DaCosta (The Music Man), producing legend Haila Stoddard, Theodore Bikel (Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music), Anne Baxter (All About Eve), Phoebe Brand (and many more) will be interspersed with great Broadway showstoppers (ie., People, Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina, One, Edelweiss, 76 Trombones) , plus great stories from TAW members who appeared in the original productions of Funny Girl, All That Jazz, Agnes of God, Butterflies Are Free, Benson, and others.

This 30th celebration will showcase current and past members of TAW. Direction will be led by David Rogers – with additional direction by  Mark Graham, Mia Dillon, Jo Anne Parady, June Walker Rogers, Doug Taylor, Allan Zeller, production by Barbara Rhoades,  musical direction by David Harris, and, technical wizardry from P.J. Letersky and Kim Malara.  Hosting the evening will be distinguished film critic Susan Granger and celebrated writer/lecturer James Mapes.
